I’ve been through my old photos from the past few years and realised a few things:
While I worked an awesome 365 project in 2010, the year as a whole sucked, mostly because of girls, and I think that, while not going to college right away was a good choice, I needed to do something. My project wasn’t enough. It didn’t take enough of my time, and I wasn’t motivated to get out of the house and do anything.
In 2011, I met a girl. Her name is Hannah and she inspired me to listen to my friends and family. Something about her made me feel that I needed to be more responsible, and so I took the advice of my friends and family. I finished my application to RIT where my life really changed. I was finally in college. I quickly learned to make sure I got enough sleep, did my homework (which I never did in high school), kept myself fed, etc. School was epic, I met people and made new friend. I got home a few days before my birthday, and had the best summer of my life. I was so busy all summer doing all kinds of amazing things and going to all kinds of great places. By the end of the summer though, I was ready to go back to school and be a part of Photohouse! It’s been really great so far, and will only get better.
In all, despite losing my grandfather shortly after leaving for school, 2011 was the best year of my life. I’ve met awesome people and really learned who my best friends are.
